In the life of a Painter

January Storms!

It's been a relativly warm wintertime in Mariposa since the holidays, and then, boom!  Cold nights, a little snow, and winter finally arrived in Central California.  I took several weeks  to recover from the holiday sale I offered on the website from November 27 - January 3.  It was in lieu of not being able to be in Sierra Art Trails this year because of Covid-19.  Thank you all for a phenomenal response.  I am so grateful and inspired to get back to work.  The biggest challenge was shipping those 35 paintings - from small to very large and making the cardboard boxes.  I learned a lot about shipping!  I'll do this again for older paintings and those who just don't want to leave the barn.  I was humbled by the response and have purchased more frames and more paint -- and ready to begin again!  Yay!

A good friend called me recently to say she thought she saw one of my paintings on TV!  And she was right!  Here is James Comey, former Director of the FBI,  talking about a new book with the press and here he is with my painting of a winter forest off to the right.  It sold about 8 years ago here in Mariposa, but I never knew who bought it!  A blast from the past!

I'm off to another year of painting -- both plein air and studio works.  Today we are expecting more snow and heavy rain (thank you!) so it will be studio time for me.  My life as a painter expands and grows and I continue to teach myself best how "to see" well and how to communicate that to you, the viewer.  Thank you for making this a great year in spite of some challenging times -- Happy 2021.

Be safe.  Be healthy.

Until next time,

Penny
