Stillness

I took this photograph at Tunnel View, loving the simplicity and starkness from the morning light flooding the meadow with the distant peak just showing through a lot of atmosphere and a little smoke from a major fire near the Park.  I was standing here with just a few people early in the morning and finding such peace and stillness in the scene.  Challenging to paint here with crowds hovering around me, and the heat of the day coming on, I decided this would be a studio painting.  I make a small drawing first, then work from that in the studio.  2025
